Austyn began playing guitar at age 13, and helped Erik form Deviation at age 15. 

He started playing trumpet in middle school, then started listening to classic rock and got his first guitar on Christmas of 2017. Soon he progressed fast and during 8th grade he would become friends with Erik Steeves, and they both developed an interest in guitar. After 8th grade, he dropped the trumpet to fully pursue guitar.
